how many people can fit into the smallest room?

today was the first day of auditions, which were held in the dungeon-small room into which we managed to fit 23 people + drum kit + guitars + lots of amps + 3 mikes + mixing desk + band members + tape recorder. at the end of the day everyone was pretty warm.

why are we waiting?

of the eight bands booked 1 cancelled and 2 did not turn up. from now on auditioning will be a stricter process, if a band does not turn up or cancel without reasonable notice they can be deemed unreliable and will not be allocated another slot. also if a band is running late then tough, they have half an hour to play and if their time runs out then it will not be extended.

sit on the floor records is for real

today the assembled agreed that the company should be called sit on the floor, unfortunately i was unable to attend so this news is based upon the minutes of the meeting.

we want your money

some ideas for fundraising for the company were discussed. we will be able to get a grant from the arts council(i think) for 1.5k provided we can get 20% ourselves. Mr Paul Eames was contacted at east kilbride arts centre and he has kindly allowed us 3 dates to hold promotional gigs, we will recieve 0.5 of the door takings. the money will mainly be used for recording and production of the cd. there will be a fundraising music time at universal connections in east kilbride on friday 14th, you will be able to see chokmah, statfreek and spinning fish if you go along(these bands are not confirmed for the cd yet). a 12 hour music marathon was also suggested to raise money. sponsorship deals were also considered for at promotional events and on the cd sleeve, there is also the possibility of advertising upon this site.
Auditions for bands will begin on the 25th june, there are still some 0.5 hour slots left.
